1. The Grounds Krewe Outreach Member VISTA will help our non-profit develop working relationships with festivals and Mardi Gras parades in order to reduce waste produced at their events. These efforts will rely on the maintenance of existing and new partnerships with event organizers, volunteer groups, disadvantaged workforces and local businesses to prevent and mitigate disposable, landfill bound trash. The Outreach VISTA will also help develop, track and report on the performance, deficiencies and success of programs offered by Grounds Krewe to event planners and event attendees.

2. The Grounds Krewe Education Member VISTA will help our non-profit expand awareness in the New Orleans community about the need for environmental stewardship through waste prevention and recycling at special events with a focus on Mardi Gras parades. The VISTA will work with us to spread information regarding the existence, logistics and impact of Grounds Krewe’s waste reduction programming and initiatives. They will also help inform the public about economic opportunities provided to low income business owners through the creation and sale of locally sourced, environmentally sensitive Mardi Gras parade “throws”.
