Krewe Summary: The Trashformers is a marching Krewe that wants to flip the script on parade waste by collecting it as we pass the crowd instead of producing it by throwing stuff to them. WE ARE NOT A STREET CLEAN UP CREW. We get costumed up in eco/waste pun outfits, ride some shopping cart bike hybrids, interact with the crowd and take stuff from them as they hand it to us. In a light-hearted and fun way, we want them think about where that can or bottle was going if we weren’t there and be glad we came through to rescue it. Our goal is to one day have multiple similar Krewes marching intermittently throughout several parades as a genuine and effective method for helping reduce the amount of recyclable material left in the street and sent to the landfill. 2022 will be our third year marching.
Participation: Like everything in life, you get out what you put in. So, we would love to have you join us to collaborate on new ideas, help craft the communal pieces, offer to contribute $ to the Krewe production kitty and be proactive. We will need your enthusiasm, a little bit of elbow grease, a well executed costume and a few hours of your time on select weekends.
