In 2018 Grounds Krewe co-organized a forum with the Urban Conservancy focused on waste reduction during Carnival season. A panel discussion featuring council members, historians, and current Krewe organizers was moderated by Errol Laborde. Round table discussions and an expo of locally made, sustainable products were also part of the format. Over 300 “parade goers and parade throwers” attended the event, listened and shared thoughts on what their ideal vision for a future Mardi Gras would look like.
Following on the success and reception of the expo, which resulted in a cover piece by New Orleans Magazine, Grounds Krewe hopes to organize and host the event annually. Details to come soon.
