Made from locally donated t-shirts.
Crafted by hand with NOLA students at annual Earth Day Sustainability Summit.
It’s easy to build up a collection of old t-shirts in the closet from years of events, shopping, gifts and group activities. Instead of letting them clutter, collect dust or wait around only to eventually be trashed at the landfill, these shirts were up-cycled and given new life as neck bands. Each one takes a donated waste item, engages local hands and helps displace imported, disposable plastic bead necklaces.
Shirts collected by and donated to Grounds Krewe by ricRACK, a New Orleans non-profit that teaches youth and adults how to re-use donated clothing, textiles, and craft materials.
Only 100% cotton strips are biodegradable and compostable.
